Round Top Mercantile Company was founded in 1984 by Betty & Ronny Sacks to serve the Round Top community with its grocery, gasoline and hardware needs. A constant increase in business allowed the store to be expanded in 1986, to house additional lines of hardware. In 1992, it was expanded again to furnish a complete line of hardware and larger selection of groceries. In 1998, a feed room was added to accommodate ACCO feeds.

"The Mercantile" is now a one-stop shop for the community’s grocery, deli, produce, dairy and fresh meat daily needs, and SHELL gasoline and diesel with 24 hour pay at the pump available. "The Mercantile" has a full line of hardware, farm and ranch supplies, lawn and garden needs, ACCO feeds and FORAGE STAR tubs. It has many specialty products items including imported beers and wines, Radio Flyer wagons and bikes and Ertl toys, cast iron pots, outdoor cookers and so much more.
